Kayaker Rescues Naked Skinny Dipper Clinging To Riverside Tree

A kayaker saved a skinny dipper who got into trouble this weekend in a swollen Texas river.

The unidentified man was found clinging to a tree in the San Jacinto River in Houston on Saturday afternoon, reports KTRK.

He was cold and tired — and naked as the day he was born.

The Houston Fire Department was called to the scene at 2:39 p.m. after receiving reports that the man was floating down the fast-moving river.

Local resident Sharon Hambrick, meanwhile, heard the man shouting for help. She spotted him clinging to a tree behind a nearby boathouse.

He just kept saying ‘help,’” she told Houston’s KPRC. “We had a short conversation for 20 minutes, and it would get quiet and it made me nervous. I thought, ‘Oh please, don’t let him drown!'”

Hambrick pointed the man out to kayaker Denise Flores, who happened to be paddling in the water nearby. Flores went over to the man and told him to jump into her kayak.

“I said if you want help you’re gonna have to jump out of that tree,” Flores told KTRK. “Get in the boat and I’ll take you back.”

The man took her advice and leaped into her kayak. She ferried him to a fire department rescue boat and crews took him to Kingwood Hospital for observation, reports KHOU. His current condition is not known.

Houston police are investigating the incident to determine how the man came to be in the water.

Flores played down the incident, saying she doesn’t feel like a hero. ”No, I really don’t,” she said. “He is a human being.”
